Around Oddanchatram, Palani and Dindigul, a large share of group travel is not holidays at all — it is weddings, family functions and temple visits. These trips share one challenge: many people who must arrive at the same place, at the same time, usually early in the morning. A little planning makes all the difference.
Distances are approximate and from public travel sources: Oddanchatram–Palani roughly 28 km, Oddanchatram–Dindigul roughly 29 km. Check your route on a map.
Plan around the muhurtham, not the other way round
Wedding and function timings are fixed. Work backwards from them:
- Note the ceremony time and the time guests must be seated.
- Add the travel time from each pickup point, then add a generous buffer for traffic, parking and unexpected delays.
- Agree one pickup point and time with the group and share it in writing.
A vehicle that is waiting and ready is better than guests searching for lifts at the last minute.
Temple trips: Palani and nearby
Many families combine a function with a temple visit — most often to Palani, and to temples around Dindigul. Some tips:
- Start early — queues build up and the day gets hot.
- Expect festival crowds. During festival periods the roads, especially toward Palani, are crowded with pilgrims, some of them walking along the road. Drive carefully and allow much more time.
- Check timings and dress rules in advance and tell every member of the group.
- Agree a meeting point for after darshan so the group doesn't scatter.

Keeping guests together
- One vehicle for one family group means one arrival, not five.
- Plan drop-off and pickup spots near the hall or temple entrance, especially for elderly guests and children.
- Plan luggage. Guests travelling from out of town arrive with bags; confirm space beforehand.
- Share a contact. One person from your side should be the point of contact for the driver and the schedule.
For out-of-town guests
Guests flying into Madurai or arriving at Dindigul Junction can be collected and brought to Dindigul, Oddanchatram or the wedding venue in one go. Read our guide to airport and station transfers and our general notes on group transport for weddings and events.

Frequently asked questions
Can I hire a vehicle just for a wedding day?
Yes. Share the date, timings, pickup points and passengers and we will help plan the day — see our enquiry form.
Is it better to travel in one vehicle for a temple visit?
For most family groups, yes: the group arrives together, parking is simpler and nobody is left behind.
How early should I book for festival days?
As early as you can — festival and wedding-season dates fill up first, and roads need extra time on those days.
